Automatic palletisation of frozen vegetables
Client
TriNatureVegetable processing company TriNature is investing heavily in a modern machine park to ensure optimal production.
In collaboration with local growers, they cultivate flavorful and nutritious vegetables on native terroirs. After harvesting, the vegetables are cleaned, packaged, and deep-frozen at TriNature.
Challenge
For their new facility, TriNature was looking for an automated solution to palletize packaged products. The processed vegetables are packed in both boxes and bags, and the incoming volumes vary significantly — with up to 320 bags and 600 boxes per hour entering the system.
Approach
Devion built three palletizing lines in different phases. One of these lines is designed to handle both bags and boxes, while the other two are dedicated to palletizing and further packaging of boxes only. In anticipation of future growth, Devion also reserved space for a potential fourth line.
A shuttle system supplies empty pallets and removes fully stacked ones. To ensure the finished pallets are ready for storage, Devion also provided a wrapping machine and a label applicator. The entire automation system is equipped with data tracking and communicates directly with the ERP system. This allows the palletizers to automatically follow the correct stacking pattern, wrapping configuration, and labeling requirements — fast, efficient, and error-free.
Result
Since the automation, a significant amount of manual labor and forklift traffic has been eliminated at TriNature. This has made operations not only more efficient, but also safer. The first two palletizing lines are already up and running. The shuttle system, wrapper, and third line are currently under construction — meaning production is set to receive an additional boost in the near future.
